Export your excess solar energy back to the grid and reduce your electricity bills
Overview
Net metering Brunei is a mechanism introduced by the Department of Energy Brunei under the Wawasan 2035 vision. It allows solar PV system owners to export excess energy generated back to the grid in return for credits — which are then applied to reduce your monthly electricity bill. Solara X manages the full net metering application on your behalf.
How it works
Solar energy powers your home or business first.
Any surplus energy is sent back to the utility.
Credits are applied at the prevailing tariff rate and can roll over for up to 12 months.
Any unused credits accumulated beyond 12 months will be forfeited per DOE guidelines.
Eligibility
Any eligible solar PV system Brunei owner can apply — from rooftop solar on homes to large commercial and government installations.
Must be a current customer of the Distribution Service Provider with no outstanding arrears.
Solar PV system must be between 1kW and 1,000kW (1MW).
Open to residential, commercial, government and industrial consumers.
The energy source must be solar PV technology; battery-only systems are not eligible.
Installation is eligible for rooftop systems as well as carpark and carport structures.
